Call of Duty name rules
Your Call of Duty name is your Activision ID. It shows in the killfeed, the lobby and the scoreboard in every game on your account. Activision adds its own number to each ID, so a name can't be taken, but it still has to fit these rules.
Length
2 to 16 characters.
Fits the rulesKNot allowedCharacters
Letters, from any alphabet, and numbers. No spaces and no dots.
Fits the rulesNight.TerrorNot allowed Number tag
Activision adds a number after a #, like DieselDad#4821937. You don't choose it, and it lets any number of players share a name.

6 tips for choosing a Call of Duty name
Your name gets a second or two in the killfeed. These tips are about making it count.
Built for the killfeed
The killfeed shows your name in small text for a moment. One or two hard-sounding words land; symbols and swapped letters read as nothing.
Instead ofxXSn1p3rK1ngXxTryLet the tag be the number
Activision already adds a number after the #. Digits of your own on top just look like a fourth choice.
Instead ofGhost2847TryLeave room for a clan tag
Clan tags sit in front of your name. A short name keeps the pair readable in a lobby list.
Instead ofLastCircleLuckGuyTryPick one lane
Tactical, sweaty or a joke your squad laughs at. A name that tries all three lands none.
Instead ofTacticalLOLSweatTryOutlast the next release
Your ID carries into next year's game. A name tied to this year's title or map ages with it.
Instead ofBO6GrinderTrySay it on comms
Your squad will shout it mid-fight. If they can't say it, they will give you a nickname instead.
