Tips for Choosing a WoW Name

Match the Race, Not the Class
Shadowbolt is a spell, not a name. A warlock is still a blood elf or an orc first, and the naming tradition follows the race - the class shows on your character sheet already.

Say It Out Loud First
Guildmates will type it in raid chat and say it on voice for years. If it takes three attempts to pronounce, it will quietly become a nickname instead.

Avoid the Apostrophe Trap
One apostrophe can look authentic; two makes a name nobody can search, whisper or add to a guild roster on the first try.

Leave Room for Twelve
Blizzard caps names at twelve characters, and long lore-styled names get cut without warning. Eight to ten is the sweet spot: distinctive, still fully visible over your head.
